Community Service

Community pride is a major focus of the CGCC. In prior years we held two fund raisers to help finance projects and show off the talents of our garden club members, our biennial Yuletide House Tour and our Annual Plant Sale.

Next year, because of the covid-19 restrictions, we plan to host “The CGCC Summer by the Sea Garden Tour” in 2022. This event will be a rain or shine event of 8 gorgeous gardens and special signature planters designed by our very own members. You will be able to purchase specialty plants found in these beautiful gardens at designated shop sites. More details to follow.

Below, you will find the name and description of each service the CGCC provides the community.

Bicycle Project

Each week from July through October a bicycle appears in a prominent spot around town. Members will fill the bicycle basket with flowers or plants and decorate the bike, if possible, coordinating the theme with the specific space where the bike will be.

Annual Plant Sale

The Community Garden Club of Cohasset holds an annual plant sale on a Saturday in the middle of May.  It is currently held on the grounds of the Cohasset Historical Society on South Main Street.  We strive to offer a variety of plants, including perennials, annuals, vegetables and a few shrubs.  All garden club members are encouraged to participate in this fun, educational and rewarding event.

Yuletide House Tours

The Community Garden Club of Cohasset has hosted a biennial holiday house tour for many years since in 1977. The Yuletide event for 2023 is scheduled for December 7, 2023. In past years it was so popular that it sold out prior to the day of the tour.

As always, the tour includes five or six, this year it will be six, unique homes decked out for the holidays. Cohasset has the good fortune of having an amazing inventory of interesting homes as well as a location on the ocean and the Gulf River.

Teams of garden club members collaborate on a unique design plan for a one-of-a-kind result in each home that is sure to impress. The 2023 theme is “Let Nature Sing”.

The 2023 Yuletide's Marketplace, prepaid ticket pick up and hospitality venue will be held at Willcutt Common, 91 Sohier Street, Cohasset.
